About This Plant

A low, sprawling annual that blooms throughout the warm season. The gray-green, fleshy foliage is sticky to the touch with a mottled appearance. The bright red flowers make it a standout in dry summer fields around San Antonio. Devil’s Bouquet is not readily available in the nursery trade, so it is best to preserve any occurring on site.

Origins: South Texas and New Mexico

Maintenance

Individual plants can withstand light mowing, but seeds must be allowed to ripen between mowing to maintain the population.
