About This Plant
Full sun or partial shade. Evergreen, with small, glossy leaves and a distinctive zigzag trunk shape. Flowers are tiny and yellow but difficult to see. Xylosma is used for evergreen privacy in the Texas landscape; it naturally grows tall and fairly wide, though it can be maintained as a dense hedge. Left on its own, it eventually grows up into a 25′ tree.
Maintenance
Xylosma is accustomed to some supplemental moisture, especially if maintained as a hedge with frequent shearing.
