Fall is the perfect time to plant trees. And while it doesn’t feel quite like autumn yet, we’re ushering it in with a new fall coupon program. Starting Sept. 1 it’s all about trees!

We’ve all heard the saying “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” Well, this fall it kind of does. The fall cycle of the WaterSaver Landscape Coupon will begin Sept. 1, and this season it’s all about trees.

Debuting Sept. 1, is the fall edition of the Patioscape Coupon. So, if your landscape could use trees and a new patio, you may want to pair both coupons to create a rejuvenated outdoor environment.

Why trees for the fall offering?

Fall is the perfect time to plant them. The mild soil and air temperatures provide excellent conditions for the root systems to begin to grow. Typically mild South Texas winters mean the roots will continue to become established throughout the dormant winter months allowing the young trees to be ready for the hot summer months to come.

By focusing on small trees, we found we needed to reconsider the structure of the coupon program. The fall coupon will require the purchase of seven plants total, at least two of which must be small trees from the approved list. The remaining five plants can be any combination of trees or shrubs from the list.

Participating customers for either program are required to remove at least 200 square feet of grass and any existing irrigation in the area to create one new contiguous bed or patio. Plants purchased with the Landscape Coupon may not be used in existing beds. For the Patioscape Coupon, participants must purchase a minimum of 160 square feet of the feature item (pavers, flagstones or stepping stones) for the new 200-square-foot patio. Customers with an irrigation system must call 704-SAVE (704-7283) to schedule a free irrigation checkup upon applying for the coupon.

The SAWS WaterSaver coupons are a great way to help reduce the cost of making changes to your landscape — and fall is the perfect time to get back outside after a long hot summer!
