Join us at the Terrill Heights Community Garden for a hands-on Native Plant Demonstration & Garden Workday featuring guest educator Shannon Grace! This community event is designed to promote the beauty, resilience, and importance of native plants while helping support one of our local neighborhood gardens.
Shannon Grace — founder of Texas Bean Freak and a seasoned vegetable gardener with over 15 years of growing experience across diverse climates — brings a wealth of knowledge about heat-tolerant, drought-resistant plants and resilient garden design. As a board member of the Native Plant Society of Texas and host of Seedy and Shady AF: A Sketchy Gardening Podcast, Shannon blends expert guidance with humor, storytelling, and practical tips you can use right away.
During this demonstration, participants will:
Learn how to identify, plant, and care for native species
Explore landscape strategies that support pollinators and water conservation
Get hands-on experience during a collaborative garden workday
Discover how native plants strengthen community spaces and local ecosystems
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just beginning your native plant journey, this event offers a welcoming space to learn, connect, and help the garden thrive.
All are welcome — bring water, gloves, and a willingness to dig in!
