“Whole and Wild: Haggard Ranch Prairie Restoration” will be presented by landowner Metha Haggard with supporting presentations by United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service and Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas; and photography from Bexar Audubon South Central Texas.
Under intense outside pressure from commercial development interests and neighbors who chose to cash in their own homesteads, the Haggard family chose to ensure that their homestead would be preserved for native wildlife, migratory birds and future generations of humans. During her 2-session workshop, “Whole and Wild” biographical presentation, Ms. Haggard will share the family decision and actions to restore 55 of the 247 acres of The Haggard Ranch conservation easement to a native Texas Blackland Prairie ecosystem.
