About This Plant
Partial sun or partial shade. Hibiscus martianus is year-round bloomer with classic hibiscus flowers of five broad petals and a central pistil. The leaves are noticeably thicker and smaller than widely cultivated hibiscus varieties.
Heartleaf hibiscus can be grown in full sun but also does fine in partial shade; it grows surprisingly well in pots.
Maintenance
Protect from harsh winter cold, especially from north winds.

Years in South Texas landscaping and public horticulture gave him a lasting enthusiasm for native plants that don’t die when sprinklers -- and gardeners -- break down. He’d rather save time and water for kayaking and tubing. He is a former kilt model, and hears hummingbirds.
