About This Plant
Shade; evergreen. A nearly trunkless bushy palm thriving in damp or poorly drained shade. There’s even a state park (Palmetto) named after it, where a relic population grows along the San Marcos River in Gonzales, TX.
Palmetto requires moisture to establish but can be drought-hardy thereafter.
