Once-a-week watering is actually not a bad thing. That’s because September is the beginning of the end of the growing season.
The reprieve is over and dry weather has returned — triggering Stage 1 watering rules.
During Stage 1, watering is limited to one day a week, based on the last digit of your address. For example, if the last digit is 0 or 1, your watering day is Monday. You can water before 10 a.m. or after 9 p.m. Watering days begin and end at midnight; overnight watering is not allowed.
There’s no need to worry about your landscape. Native plants and adapted plants thrive with biweekly or monthly watering. Just take a look at roadside grasses and wildflowers. They’re lush and green with absolutely no supplemental water.
In the meantime, it’s already September — the beginning of the end of the growing season. In other words, plants have produced and stored almost all of their food for the year so there’s no need to water often or excessively.
