Don’t be blindsided by a big water bill

Recently moved into a house with an in-ground sprinkler system? Make a beeline for the irrigation controller and turn it off.

Whether you just bought a brand-new home or one that’s new-to-you, there’s one often-overlooked detail that can quickly alter the joy of new homeownership: the in-ground irrigation system.

Many homes around San Antonio come equipped with them and most of the time they’re already operational when you move in, sometimes set to run daily, morning and evening — and that can mean trouble for your water bill.

So, before you start unpacking and settling in, go to the irrigation controller and turn off the system. Your landscape doesn’t need much water right now anyway.

Then, give your sprinkler system a quick checkup. Turn on each zone briefly and look for heads that may need to be replaced, readjusted or redirected. Of course, if you’re not sure what to look for or you’re just not familiar with irrigation systems, give us a call at 210-704-SAVE (7283)!

We’re always happy to help you program your irrigation controller according to your landscape’s actual water needs.

Above all, remember that irrigation systems may be convenient, but they are not efficient. They must be checked monthly for any malfunctions.
