Get step-by-step guidance to create a thriving outdoor space that saves water and attracts pollinators.
Whether you’re planting in beds, pots or planning a pocket prairie to plant by seed, the WildThumb app can help you design your space and outline the steps you need to take in order to create a thriving native space perfect for saving water, attracting pollinators, and enhancing your yard.
When you start creating your project in the app, you’ll specify the location of your project area and get suggestions for plants that are not only native to Texas, but native to your specific ecoregion. This helps ensure the plants you include in your garden are well adapted to your area.
You can specify whether your intended planting area is in sun, part-sun or shade, and the list will filter down to only plants that work for those lighting conditions. The app creates a digital rendering of how the area will look when the plants reach maturity, helping you determine appropriate spacing and visual harmony. The list of plants also includes general water requirements to help you group plants with similar water needs together.
Want to attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your garden? The list also provides guidance on pollinators and wildlife that each plant can attract. After you’ve finished creating your project, the app will send you care requirements based on the specific plants that you chose.
You can even use the Wild Thumb app to help you design your space using only native plants that are approved with your WaterSaver Landscape Coupon. The current list of coupon-eligible native plants on the Wild Thumb app are:
| Autumn sage | Mealy blue sage/ mealy cup sage |
