Solve your water-use mystery

Not all leaks are easy to spot. Fortunately, SAWS can help you detect the water-wasting culprits.

Have you received a shockingly high bill or continuous water use notice? If you think it can’t be right because you don’t hear any water flowing or see any puddles on the ground, think again.

Not all leaks are easy to spot. Fortunately, SAWS can help you detect the water-wasting culprits!

New electronic meters, deployed as part of ConnectH2O, make it easier than ever to monitor your water use and catch potential leaks early. That’s because they take reads every hour — and you can see them for yourself the next day via SAWS MyAccount and WaterSmart.

The new meters also have a screen that gives you the real time flow of water through the meter, in gallons per minute. That means you don’t have to wait for a high bill to know something’s wrong. If there’s a constant flow of water through your meter of at least 5 gallons per hour for 48 hours, you’ll get a heads up!

Note: If you don’t have an electronic meter yet, yours will be installed soon — all mechanical water meters are on track to be replaced by the end of 2025. Check the installation schedule to find out if your location is scheduled for installation.

  • Use the leak detection checklist that walks you through how to check each water feature in your home for a possible leak.
  • Your mechanical water meter (if you still have one) can help pinpoint problems.
  • The customer-plumber checklist will guide in making sure all common problem areas are checked. Once they evaluate your property, make sure they give you a report of their investigation.

Outside the office, you’ll find Madelyn on the pickleball court, singing along at concerts, or spending time with her dog, Kylo.
