Rain Barrels Redux

Autumn is synonymous with harvest. This fall SAWS is offering rain barrel coupons so you can reap the rain in all its autumn bounty.

Now you can stop wishing you could collect all that rain pouring down from your rooftop and actually do it.

This fall, San Antonio Water System will host three rain barrel distribution events for residential water customers. We’re also excited to announce a retail option that will be ongoing throughout the fall.

Using rain barrels to harvest rain water is a great way to help conserve water and nourish your garden when rainfall is absent.

The application and pickup process is outlined below.

Distribution Event

For residential water customers getting a rain barrel coupon is as easy as 1-2-3.

  1. Complete a WaterSaver Rain Barrel Application to receive your electronic coupon code via e-mail.
  2. Purchase your rain barrel online and select your pickup date and time at Rain Water Solutions . If an event is already at capacity, you must select another. Cost is $50*.
  3. Pick up your rain barrel at your selected event.

The pickup time is 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

Sept. 30
 – SAWS Headquarters, 2800 US Hwy 281 North
Oct. 14 – Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, 10750 Pleasanton Rd.
Nov. 4 – Concordia Lutheran Church, 16801 Huebner Rd.

Retail Store

Can’t make any of the distribution events or don’t want to wait? Simply complete aWaterSaver Rain Barrel Application and wait for your coupon to arrive by mail in 10 to 14 days. Then, visit a participating Stone & Soil Depot location to use your SAWS paper coupon to purchase your rain barrel. Cost is $63**.

Coupon expires 30 days from the date of issue. Once it expires, you must re-apply. To purchase additional barrels, Stone & Soil Depot will have them available at their regular price.

Remember: a rain barrel is only as good as its installation. View the Rain Water Solutions rain barrel installation video or check out this article on one SAWS customer’s installation process.

*SAWS will email your coupon code for ONE barrel within 7 days. Look for an email with the subject line “SAWS Rain Barrel Coupon Code”. The email will include a link to the vendor that allows you to purchase the rain barrel for $50 and select the date and location for the pickup event you’d like to attend. Coupon codes do not guarantee availability of rain barrels. There are 858 rain barrels available for each of the three events. No coupon codes will be reissued after expiration. Once the distribution events are sold out, rain barrels will only be available through the retail vendor. Applications for retail rain barrels close on 11-3-17.

** SAWS will mail your rain barrel coupon(s) to the mailing address listed on your account within 10-14 days. The coupon(s) will be valid at the participating vendor(s) listed on the coupon to purchase rain barrels for $63 each (maximum two per household, depending on prior participation). Coupons will expire on December 3, 2017. No coupons will be reissued.
