Explore the flavors and stories of edible Texas native plants in this interactive Indigenous SuperFoods Plant Lotería!

Using our custom Lotería cards, participants will learn about local plants, their ecological roles, and traditional uses.

This workshop features a culinary twist: a simple, safe recipe will be provided for preparing cactus (nopal) at home. Learn about how to grow cactus at home into a thriving plant and enjoy its edible pads in salads, sautés, or salsas. Gain a deeper understanding of how native plants nourish both our gardens and our plates.

Whether you’re a gardener, a foodie, or curious about local ecology, this session offers a fun, educational, and delicious dive into Texas’ natural heritage.
