Join other members of the community to help us care for the habitat at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center! Help manage and restore the space through trail maintenance, removal of invasive species, and planting native plants for birds and butterflies—whatever the habitat needs most that day.
This work is more than just upkeep—it’s about restoring balance. Invasive species often outcompete native plants, requiring more water and offering little support to local wildlife. By removing invasives and reintroducing native plants, we help create a landscape that naturally conserves water, supports biodiversity, and thrives in our South Texas climate. Native plants are adapted to our environment, meaning they need less irrigation, improve soil health, and provide essential food and shelter for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
Registration required. All training is provided—just bring your willingness to get your hands a little dirty! All children 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult and be at least 8 years old.
