Your Be Ready Rebate Checklist
After the assessment, you should know if you have any leaks that need to be fixed and how to protect your plumbing from a freeze. Every home is different, but your plumber may recommend:
- Installing a shut-off valve in case of emergency.
- Insulating exposed pipes under pier-and-beam houses, hose bibs or other locations.
- Freeze protection for vulnerable washing machines, water heaters, water softeners or other water lines.
Your plumber must complete the Be Ready Rebate checklist.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Be Ready Rebate (BRR) program?
SAWS residential water customers can get a $75 rebate on a home plumbing assessment designed to check for leaks and assess ways to protect their plumbing from a freeze. Homeowners may choose to have their licensed plumber winterize their pipes or do it themselves, depending on the need.
This program is intended to provide a rebate after the home plumbing assessment and will not cover all of the costs.
Do I have to use a licensed plumber?
Yes, you must use a licensed plumber to check your plumbing and complete the required BRR checklist.
Can SAWS recommend a plumber?
SAWS cannot recommend a plumbing company. SAWS does not endorse any one plumber, and is not responsible for damages caused by the plumber.
What will the plumber do?
You can expect the plumber to check for leaks, make sure your cutoff valves work and make recommendations to help winterize your plumbing. This includes identifying any exposed pipes and areas that might be vulnerable to a freeze, such as water heaters in an attic or garage.
The plumber must also complete the BRR checklist during the visit. You will need to submit a copy with your application.
How do I get a rebate?
After your assessment, complete the BRR application. You will need to submit the licensed plumber’s invoice and the completed BRR checklist with your application.
Can I apply for work previously completed?
No, the home plumbing assessment must be completed after Nov. 8, 2021 and before Feb. 28, 2022.
How long does it take to receive a rebate?
Your rebate will appear as a credit on your water bill, usually 6-8 weeks. Limit one rebate per household.
Incomplete applications will delay processing your application and therefore receiving the credit on your bill.
How long do I have to get my rebate?
Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Limit 2,000.
I have more questions. Is there someone I can talk to SAWS?
Yes, give us a call at 210-704-SAVE (7283).
