About This Plant

Deciduous. The distinctly bluish leaves have shallow lobes and nice fall colors. Lacey oak tolerates thin soils and makes an excellent choice for a specimen in a small outdoor area.

Maintenance

Like live oak and red oak, lacey oak can be susceptible to oak wilt fungus, especially where trees have formed root connections underground; appropriate precautions should always be taken when pruning. Paint all wounds within 30 minutes of cutting to protect from nitidulid beetles; best practice is to wait until they are dormant conduct pruning in winter, before February 1 (NEVER in springtime).
