About This Plant

Sun or partial shade. Tapioca is grown for its spectacular ornamental foliage, with red stems and broad yellow-and-green palmate leaves. The foliage endures direct sun and tolerates reflected heat from pavement. It’s a Texas Superstar, useful as a summer patio or container plant as long as it can be kept from drying out during periods of no rain (use mulch to keep soil moist).

Strictly a warm-season annual in south Texas, it can grow from a one gallon pot to a 6-foot shrub in a single season.

Maintenance

Grows quickly to large size in warm weather.
