About This Plant
Full sun. Evergreen. Considered one of the most attractive agaves, with wide blue leaves and jet-black spines. Twelve-foot yellow flower stalks appear at the end of its life cycle. Winter-hardy to zero degrees, but less tolerant of wet feet; well drained soil is a must if you’re in clay country.
This agave produces plentiful offsets. Many horticultural varieties are available for use in residential landscapes; see artichoke agave.
Maintenance
Occasional light grooming to remove damaged leaves; offsets can be easily removed.
