About This Plant
Sun or shade. Evergreen, with spiny petioles on the leaves. An extremely cold-hardy fan palm, with multiple stems rising from a single base; it’s one of the most effective landscape palms for south-central Texas, forming multi-trunked thickets. Spines make it an effective barrier plant.
Maintenance
None required; generally self-pruning. It requires good drainage; allow it to dry out between waterings.
