About This Plant
Sun or shade. Evergreen and long-lived, with ribbonlike, rough-edged leaves that form compact ornamental mounds. 5 foot tall cream-colored flower stalks arise in late spring.
A great, strongly formed companion for autumn sage and other little-leaved plants; works well in pots or in the landscape among sotols and basket grasses. As the name suggests, beargrass’s sharp edges can cut skin if handled carelessly.
Maintenance
None needed except to remove spent foliage; wear gloves, as the rough-edged leaves can inflict serious paper cuts.
