About This Plant
Partial or full shade. Viburnum is a large evergreen shrub up to about 10 feet, with dense cymes of pink or white flowers early in the year. In its native range it prefers moist soil, so growing it in San Antonio probably means keeping it shaded to prevent drying out.
‘Spring Bouquet’ is the recommended cultivar for the San Antonio area.
Maintenance
Laurel viburnum is sensitive to drought for the first two years after planting; expect to water deeply every two weeks during hot, dry periods for the first two years. Laurel viburnum makes a rounded shrub suitable for an informal hedge, but it can also be trimmed to shape.
