About This Plant
Sun/part shade; mostly evergreen. Thick, fleshy leaves with brightly colored flowers form a fast-spreading groundcover similar to portulaca.
Ice plant is used in the western US around homes as a wildfire suppressant; in ideal conditions it quickly covers bare ground and has been used to suppress weeds.
Maintenance
Protect from frost. No care needed to grow in shade, but in exposed locations it may require supplemental water.
