About This Plant
Full (or at least partial) shade. Evergreen, with spikes of blue flowers in summer. A dense, fast-spreading purple groundcover spreading by runners, bugleweed can be used as an informal shade groundcover in between larger perennials. (it rarely grows taller than 6 inches.) Frequent companion plants include purple heart, airplane plant, and society garlic.
Maintenance
Ajuga is virtually maintenance-free once established, although it may require supplemental water in sun.
