About This Plant
Sun or light shade. Evergreen, with rosettes of 3-foot long thin bluish leaves, eventually growing a short treelike trunk. The fine serrations along the leaves discourage deer, but this nolina is non-threatening to gardeners and children and makes a dramatic accent.
Blue nolina is slow-growing, and cold hardy down to 10 degrees F.
Maintenance
Spent leaves can be removed with hand pruners for a palmlike form, but there’s no way to put them back.
