About This Plant

Sun or light shade. Evergreen, with rosettes of 3-foot long thin bluish leaves, eventually growing a short treelike trunk similar to ponytail palm. The fine serrations along the leaves discourage deer, but in general this nolina is non-threatening to gardeners and children and makes a dramatic architectural accent. Slow growing, and cold hardy down to 10 degrees F.

Maintenance

Grooming to remove spent leaves; sometimes seen with leaves shaved from the trunk for a palmlike form.
