Dinner and a Blanket: Nourishing Soil with Compost, Protecting It with Mulch

March 7 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Free
March Calendar graphic for Master Gardeners Cultivate classes.

Making compost is simple, but choosing the right type can be confusing. Stores offer a wide range: molasses-based, various manure types (chicken, rabbit, cattle, mixed alfalfa), cotton burr, mushroom, and even compost with mycorrhiza. Mulches add another layer of choice—single, double, or triple shredded; cedar, cypress, native varieties; or just use leaves or living mulch. With so many options, where do you begin? Does it matter, or are all composts and mulches essentially the same? Join Bill Swantner, Bexar County Master Gardener, and he will help make sense of these materials so you can create a more resilient landscape.

CULTIVATE! classes are free and take place online March 6-7. Advance registration required to sign up for the individual sessions.
