Spring It On! Spring Bloom Is This Saturday!

New to San Antonio? Or maybe a first-time homeowner ready to jazz up your yard? Whether you’re a gardening rookie or a planting pro, SAWS Spring Bloom is the perfect place to kick-start your 2019 landscape ambitions. Plus, get a FREE plant while supplies last!

Make a beeline for SAWS Headquarters, Saturday, March 9 for Spring Bloom, your prime opportunity to learn about gardening and landscape care from the pros!

SAWS’ annual free event features presentations by local gardening experts from Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension and Bexar County Master Gardeners, to name just a few.

Attendees also will have the opportunity to earn WaterSaver Rewards points for each presentation, for a total of 3 points toward a $30 coupon. When you arrive at Spring Bloom, you’ll get a card to have punched for each presentation. If you’re not a Rewards member yet (I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be?) just sign up online by midnight Monday, March 11 and your punched card will be honored.

There will also be youth activities with help from local high school students and plants for sale at the event, courtesy of Bexar County Master Gardeners, Gardening Volunteers of South Texas, San Antonio Men’s Garden Club, Palo Alto Horticultural Club and the San Antonio Herb Society.

And as always, the first 1,000 visitors get a free plant from SAWS! This year we’ll have blue salvia ‘Mystic Spires’, upright rosemary, shrimp plant and Turk’s cap.

Mark Peterson

Mark A. Peterson is a conservation project coordinator for San Antonio Water System. With over 30 years of experience as an urban forester and arborist, Mark is probably the only person you know who actually prunes trees for fun. When not expounding on the benefits of trees and limited lawns, you’re likely to find him hiking San Antonio’s wilderness parks or expounding on the virtues of geography and history to his friends.
