Live Green, Save Green

We know you’re not “that guy.” You know the one. The irrigation system runs every day, even when it’s raining. Aside from using your irrigation system wisely, there are lots of other ways you can help conserve our most precious resource.

Try these live green water-saving tips to help keep your bill low and maintain a healthy landscape. (BTW, thank you for not being that guy!)

  • Test the soil. If it’s moist 2 inches down, it doesn’t need watering. Hold off on watering until the soil dries out.
  • Use organic fertilizer to promote slow, healthy growth.
  • Landscape with native plants. They use less water, and are more pest and disease-resistant.
  • Use a broom – not a water hose – to clean your driveway and sidewalk.
  • Add a layer of organic mulch around plants to retain moisture and discourage weeds. As the mulch breaks down, it’ll feed the soil.
  • Water plants deeply and less frequently to encourage deep roots and drought tolerance. Group plants with like watering requirements together.

If you practice just a few of the ideas above, you’re sure to see a drop in your bill. And, you’ll feel good about doing great things for our environment!
